Christmas came a little early for
Cadets at 2461 Sawston! As another
valuable resource for our squadron - it’s own flight simulator becomes fully
operational after full a system upgrade. On the last parade of this year,
cadets were able to experience a flight!
Earlier this year CI Alan Barnett and
CI Daniel Schmeer were set to task to get our Flight Simulator fully
operational. At our opening event in
November, CI Barnett spoke with Air Commodore, Dawn McCafferty, CBE about the
issues and hurdles that they were facing to get the Flight Simulator up and
running.
CI Barnett said “Now the Flight
Simulator is fully functional cadet
training will commence in the new year with all of our cadets getting a unique
experience of flight. Training will not be affected by the winter weather or
daylight hours!”
CI Barnett had also contacted the Air
Commodore to pass on the great news and he received the following message;
“Alan, thanks for this hugely positive update and thanks to
you and everyone else who has made this possible. I am sure the cadets
will gain huge benefit from having their own flight simulator and it helps keep
the air in air cadets in a fun and educational way. I wish all at Sawston
a very Merry Xmas and a great 2019”.
CO Tim
Barker said “We are so grateful to both CI Barnett and CI Schmeer in upgrading
and updating our Flight Simulator. We
are very fortunate to have such a valuable piece of technology for the cadets
to experience flight”.
